AZEVEDO NAMED
WORLD'S LEADING SCORER
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA-- Tony Azevedo, arguably the world's top player,
earned the World Championships Leading Scorer Award following a 19-goal
output at the World Championships for the United States. He is the first
American to win this award.
The U.S., which finished in ninth place, saw Azevedo
score six goals twice over the tournament's six games, once against
South Africa and then again, against Canada in a slugfest that saw the
Americans beat their Northern neighbors 16-11. He scored two goals in
the Americans ninth place win over Australia.
